Music and drama complement each other like no other art form can and have done so for centuries. In this program, we discuss the commonalities shared by the two most popular genres uniting music and drama in the 21st century: opera and the Broadway musical. We explore the cross-pollination of ideas - both musical and dramatic - the personnel who work in both media, and the practical realities that performers face in the concert hall, at the opera house, or on the Broadway stage. Our program surveys the processes theatrical practitioners employ in conquering that task so that our audiences may walk away with a more profound sense of musically enhanced drama as it unfolds.

The presentation is free, but registration is required.
